Full Description
In one aspect, the present invention is directed to a food and
beverage coaster, comprising:
- an upper layer, in which at least a part thereof is made
substantially of a liquid absorbing material, on which a food or
beverage vessel is to be placed;
- a lower layer, in which at least a part thereof is made
substantially of liquid-impermeable material; and
- one or more adhesive elements, attached to the bottom of the
lower layer, for sticking the lower layer to a surface on which
the coaster is placed;
thereby enabling detaching the vessel from the coaster upon lifting
the vessel.
The coaster may further comprise an advertisement impressed
thereon.
The coaster may further comprise a detachable tab on which an
advertisement is impressed.
According to one embodiment of the invention, a space separates
between an edge of at least one of the adhesive elements and an
extent of the coaster, thereby generating a free adhesive tab, resulting
with enabling detaching the coaster from a surface to which the
coaster is adhered to, by pulling the tab upwards.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the lower layer is
made of a material selected from a group comprising: compressed
paper, plastic, film such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and so on.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the upper layer is
made of paper-based material.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the upper layer is
made of bio-degradable materials.
Preferably, the coaster designed for disposable use, e.g., by
employing "cheap" materials.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the adhesive
elements are arranged such that upon facing a lower layer of the
coaster to a lower side of another coaster, all adhesive elements of
these coasters do not meet.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the coaster is
designed such that each of the adhesive elements does not meet any of
the liquid absorbing parts when placed in a stack in which all of the
adhesive elements turn tom one side (e.g., bottom), and each of the
liquid absorbing parts turn to the other side (e.g., top), thereby
preventing adhering the absorbing parts to the adhesive elements.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the liquid
absorbing parts is embodied as a single circular region, and the
adhesive elements are embodied as substantially triangular elements
disposed at the corner of the liquid-impermeable layer.
The coaster may further comprise a plurality of tabs in a
sunflower form, thereby associating the coaster with a sunflower
product.
