Summary
This special trencher was designed and built to dig a foundation trench up to 24" wide under the perimeter of a mobile home, doublewide, or modular home after the home is set on its pier foundation. This is a tremendous labor saving tool.

Full Description
The problem: Digging a foundation trench to add brick perimeter for a doublewide home after the house is set on its pier foundation.
Prior solution: Back breaking shovel work to dig a trench under the edge of the home at low clearance. Very time consuming and very expensive.
Our solution: We designed and built a prototype skidsteer mounted trencher that can be offset to dig beside the path of the skidsteer and extremely low-profile to dig under the home. Approximately 85% of the excavated dirt is conveyed out from under the home by means of an auger. This prototype has been in use for 10 years digging 100's of foundation trenches. This method of foundation preparation is very accurate, straight, and level. The concrete is then poured using grade stakes that are driven in the trench to a depth measured from the trim of the home avoiding the need to cut blocks or bricks on the first course.
Some home installers choose to have the perimeter foundation poured before the home is delivered. Of course, in this case, they have the option to dig the trench with a backhoe but our trencher outperforms the backhoe by digging a much straighter trench with less fracturing and shattering of the surrounding soil. This results in a much stronger foundation and extremely predictable use of concrete. We typically calculate the overall length of the trench and place an order for contcrete before we start digging a foundation. It is that predictable!
We would like to sell this patent outright but would consider licensing to a manufacturer/distributor.
