Full Description

Having spent in excess of twenty eight years in the roofing industry, I discovered first hand the need to design, develop and produce a new style of roofing panel that addressed the complicated installation problems related to traditional tile and other steel roofing products. Further, this new hybrid-roofing panel would need to meet and exceed the many diverse customer needs and local code requirements to satisfy the most discriminating clients. And of course it goes without saying, that this product not only needed to perform all of this, but most of all be atheistically appealing and designed to be simple and easy to install. Further, the big picture idea of any worthy invention is to benefit the user, while providing the patent owner and licensees with financial rewards accordingly. The best type of patent to provide this maximum value is both a “Design” as well as a “Utility” Patent. This is just such a patent. Low on cost, high on demand, and high on profit margins. The Invention: U.S. Patent # 6,519,905 This invention is based on two parts. Part One: Design: Interlocking Reversible Steel Roofing Panel. This uniquely designed interlocking reversible steel roofing panel and trim components are easy and fast to install. It can provide two different tile design appearances. It requires no special tools or equipment as all of the competitors and also does not have all of the difficulties of installation, such as wood battens and counter-battens that so many of the current field of competition require. It is self-aligning and is lighter in weight. It is wind rated in excess of 120 MPH and is class "A" fire rated. It not only solvers these problems of installation, but also allows for better packaging for distribution and jobsite loading. Speed of loading and also of installation with this product is a major asset. It installs on average 50 to 60 percent faster than the field of competition. Part Two: Method/Process: Stone-Coating. The old adage, “Time Is Money” has long been the “double-edged sword” of the business world. If time is indeed money, then to effectively make more money, one needs more time. Considering that we cannot yet physically create more time, and then one needs to find a way to produce quality-finished goods in less time that we already use. That is the whole basis of the process portion of this patent. Use time more efficiently. This portion of the patent provides a time proven, field-tested method / process that allows one to provide an extremely durable stone-coated finish to a panel or other substrates in literately minutes rather than the many hours that the construction fields current methods provide. With this unique method / process, the increased volume of finished goods that one can produce in the same amount of time of a given work day will obviously create extremely higher bottom line profits in considerably less time in the same amount of time of a given day. The end result… creating more time to make extremely higher profit margins. Growing Markets: There is a great demand for the value that this patent provides. Nationally as well as internationally. The renovation and new construction markets in the U.S. alone are booming at annual rate increases ranging form 5.5 to 18%. The profits produced from this type of product could run well into the millions of dollars annually from sales related markets ranging from the devastation of hurricanes like Katrina to the standard and ongoing new and retrofit construction projects. There is a constant high growing demand for Stone-Coated Roof, Wall and Soffit Panels. Features and Benefits: Notwithstanding the endless color pallet that can be achieved through the blending of multiple stone types and styles along with the tinting of the base adhesives, but the continuing additional benefits of this unique stone-coating system are considerable. It eliminates or resist the following key issues for a vast majority of products in several fields: Painting, termite or insect treatment, fire retardant, mold or algae, cracking, shrinkage, salt spray, and ultra violet and rust deterioration. It is a highly value added decorative as well as protective coating for metal roofing, wall, and soffit panels, columns, flat sheet, cornices, wood, bricks, and other products. It also adds increased market value to the properties that use the system. Additional Intellectual Property: Since the creation and issue of this patent, critical additional know-how and production concepts have been designed and tested in use. Such know-how will also be part of the licensee or sale. License or Sale: Currently, the patent is being offered for license or sale. The equipment and materials setup necessary to start production of the coating process only, with a multi-use facility is based on building size requirements, and production expectations or requirements. Equipment cost would start at $200,000 and up. Terms: Non-Exclusive Licensee: $150,000.00 licensee fee plus 3% of gross sales quarterly. Exclusive Licensee (By Industry Field): $500,000.00 fee plus 3% of gross sales quarterly.
