Mrs. Matthews and Mr. Reddrick have teamed up for the development of this project with Idea Design Studio, and together, they used their collaborative experience to transform this idea into a marketable platform. The inventors passionately exude pride about this concept and feel it deserves immediate attention, and considering they have subjective experience with the concept, they understand the product and the process entailed, and ultimately, the market(s) that would benefit from its development and production.
What is the Concept? The name of the concept the inventors chose is Trak-IT, although they are open to the possibility of a name change and reserve final approval regarding the official name. Branding is important, of course, but the concept is the official foundation for the invention and any forthcoming applications to the invention. The invention is essentially a recovery system for personal accessories that includes a microchip with integrated GPS technology that will primarily be used for sunglasses or eyeglasses. Basically, the idea improves upon existing tracking technology that is used for stolen or missing automobiles and laptops, such as Lo-Jack; although, there is no current method for tracking eyewear, which happens to be a very expensive accessory, especially for those who don’t have insurance. A further explanation regarding the functionality of the invention will be elaborated upon in the following segment.A secondary use for this system could be for watches and other relevant/expensive jewelry that may be more than just monetarily valuable, possibly and heirloom or hand-me-down from a loved one. The inventors envision even a broader use for this device and hope that subsequent developments will enable it to be applicable to many other invaluable possessions as well. It is important to note for safety precautions, that one should never attempt to retrieve items from dangerous locations such as a body of water or tight crevice. In such a predicament, the proper authorities and a Rescue Recovery Team should be notified for extraction.
How Does it Work?Mrs. Matthews and Mr. Reddrick have been designing and putting the concept down on paper for quite some time. They have several “mock-up” drawings of this invention. These preliminary sketches have allowed the inventors to get a sense of what the concept would look like if brought into production. This is beneficial for making any necessary modifications and revisions for improvements; thus, promoting a more satisfactory, beneficial, and overall accommodating product. As currently designed in the Technical Drawings and 3D models, the invention has significantly enhanced features when compared to conventional methods. Although the system has not been engineered yet and still is in the 3D developmental stages, an explanation of possible operation is as follows:In order to understand the functionality of the device, it is important to have a simple knowledge of GPS technology. A synopsis of this technology is as follows:GPS stands for Global Positioning System and uses satellites in orbit with the earth to transmit certain signals to the receivers on the ground. The signals are received much clearer when the sky view is unobstructed. A heavily dense forest, tall buildings, large mountains, or being indoors in a highly fortified area, may hinder the proper use of GPS system. Each satellite has a built in atomic clock that allows for almost perfect time references. All GPS satellites synchronize operations so that these repeating signals are transmitted at the same moment. The signals, which move at light speed, arrive at a GPS receiver at slightly different times because some satellites are farther away than others. The accuracy of the GPS depends on the kind of receiver being used. For example, most standard hand-held units have an accuracy range of about 10-20 meters. There are models that allow for much greater and broader accuracy.Considering that this technology could come pre-integrated in the glasses or jewelry, or retrofit onto preexisting units, the user could continue to wear their favorite glasses, without having to purchase a new pair. After purchasing the system, and registering the device, Track-IT would be activated and an ID number would be assigned to that item, along with encrypted access to the main Track-IT site. Once this step is done, if the user should happen to lose or misplace their belongings, the personalized ID number given to the user, could be installed into the Track-IT system online, and the items would be located via satelite Certain novel features and components of this invention are disclosed in detail in order to make the invention clear in at least one form thereof. However, it is to be clearly understood that the invention as disclosed is not necessarily limited to the exact form and details as disclosed, since it is apparent that various modifications and changes may be made without departing from the core of the invention.
What Problem(s) Does it Solve?· Provides a efficient means of tracking ones eyewear, or other personal belongings of value-monetary or sentimental· Items can easily be tracked by the user, simply by activating the technology and registering their product; subsequently, should the item be lost, misplaced or stolen, an online system would allow the user to locate the item · Alleviates wasted time spent tediously searching for glasses, or other relevant products· Device would be accommodating for those who don’t have health insurance and can’t afford to replace their glasses· Assures peace-of-mind and a sense of ease to families or individuals· Device can be retrofit onto existing units and will not require a completely new line of customized products; although, that is also an options · Broader options available for consumers and business owners of relevant retail venues
Possible Material(s) for Construction The cost of materials and actual materials used will depend on quantity manufactured and the buyer of this idea/licensor. Introductory retail price and sustaining price to be determined by amount of quantity manufactured, actual cost of manufacturing, advertising methods used and packaging materials. All to be determined by an interested licensing company that would decide those factors. As particular models or sizes expand, the invention can be morphed or corrected for improvement. The inventor understands that company feedback, especially from knowledgeable sources, is a great way to improve on the product for future market potential. Exact measurements/dimensions are determined but are subject to subsequent changes that may enhance the product.
MarketingThis invention currently is available for sale or licensing. If you would like further information about this product or you are interested in investing or licensing this product, please use the contact information provided. The invention currently is patent pending with the USPTO. Mrs. Matthews and Mr. Reddrick envision this technology appealing to the masses, especially those who require prescription eyeglasses or own expensive/meaningful jewelry. Primary target markets would be eyeglass/sunglass manufacturers such as Lenscrafters, Pearle Vision, Perfect Lens, Ray-Ban, and designer sunglasses such as Gucci, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Armani, Foster Grant, etc…The inventors also see this product being offered to insurance companies who cover expensive jewelry, such as watches, diamond rings and other fine pieces. It would also aid and assist companies and business owners to have sensors integrated in drug and sundry products frequently stolen from stores and retailers. With the utilization of Trak-IT into the packaging, recovery of stolen goods would be imminent and assured. Moreover, licensing companies such as Thane, Evriholder, Unilever, Amazon, Visionary Innovations and many more would be relevant market targets as well.
The other market would be the manufactors of baby formula. A recent program on CNBC, "Crime Inc., (Stolen Goods) stated that the number one item stolen in the United States is baby formula. This sells of this stolen item has also been linked with funding terrorism. A recent summit was held to discuss ways to deter the theft of this product. TRAK-IT would allow the manufactors to embed the preprogramed chip in the packaging and should the load be stolen before reaching the store, the manufactor could track the load immediately before it is broken down and distributed. Once deliverd to a store, major chain stores can also put the information into their anti-theft system and if stolen on site a loud noise would go off in the store alerting store employees.
