AVD as Device for ventilation of parked cars
The problems related to greenhouse gases emissions growth and tendency for developing ecology friendly products was the primary concern within the project, which I am going to represent in next few paragraphs.
Over the last few decades, automobile manufacturers have made a lot of progress in specific fuel consumption and engine emissions of pollutants. Yet the impact of these improvements on vehicle consumption has been limited by increased dynamic performances, safety and comfort. Although the European procedures for measuring fuel consumption and CO2 emissions do not take accessories into account, the one of the biggest energy consumer from the list of the vehicle equipment is air-conditioning device (A/C). Because of its direct and indirect impact on the vehicle emissions within fuel over-consumption and refrigerant gas emission, the main objective of this project was to minimize the load on A/C in the way of lowering and reducing the temperature inside the vehicle, what also provide sufficient living conditions inside the partially closed vehicle in the summer time.
The result of the research and development process is solar device for vehicle ventilation. Presented device is autonomous and self-supporting, PCT patent pending product, which is meant to be used especially in the summer time, when the vehicle is parked, while the average temperature inside the closed vehicle can rise over the 70°C. The effect of installed device for vehicle ventilation is lower starting temperature of the vehicle interior, which is comparable with the ambient temperature. In such way device have direct influence on reducing fuel over-consumption and impact on reducing the engine (CO2 and other pollutants) and A/C (R134a, R153a or other gas used) emissions of pollutants.

Description of the device
Innovative device is designed for usage during the "hot days" season, whereby the housing of the device is easily installed and mounted between the glass and the frame of the window. Although the device is mounted directly in the window of the vehicle, design of the devices housing enable all time and all weather usage, whereby the opening and closing the window in principle is not disturbed. Power energy for device is generated by thin film solar cells which are mounted on the outer side of the device housing. The generated energy is stored in the accumulation system, which enable the energy independent use of the device. Forced ventilation by the fan (installed inside the device) ensures air circulation between the exterior ambient and interior of the vehicle. In such way the temperature of the vehicle interior is comparable with ambient temperature, what is also shown in the following picture.

On hot summer sunny day at ambient temperature 35°C the temperature inside the parked vehicle can rise for additional 15°C in just 10 minutes. Because of the temperature gradient between layers of air inside the vehicle, layers begin to circulate. This phenomenon is known as natural convection. Although there exist air circulation, there is almost none exchange of internal air with fresh air from exterior ambient. This is the reason why air and interior of the cabin become hot as 90°C and even more, where the average air temperature inside the vehicle is approximately 65°C. When the forced ventilation from said device is applied, inside the vehicle appears the field of a forced convection, because of the exchange and circulation of air between interior of the vehicle and external ambient. When the said device is producing sufficient forced convection, the average temperature inside the vehicle should be under 40°C, what means approximately 25° lower average temperature of the interior.
From costumer point of view the highest added value of the device is represented by the automated working procedure function, which automatically turns on the device when the temperature condition inside the vehicle is exceeded; and the device is automatically turned off when the conditions in the ambient are insufficient (rain, vehicle movement, low power energy, etc.). Beside automated procedure function the device for vehicle ventilation is weatherproof with noise protection, what enable the all time usage of the device without user intervening.
Characteristics and capacity of the device is optimized with multi-physics simulations of computational fluid dynamics. As optimum formation of said device has performed device working in pair on each side of a vehicle, as is shown on previous picture. In the whole ventilation process have the greatest importance the air flow inside the cabin of the vehicle, which exhausts the hottest - overheated air (located directly under the roof) into the external ambient and in accordance with air flow the fresh air from outside is drawn into the cabin through the vehicles opened existing ventilation system.
In accordance to the patent database research devices with active ventilation have already been developed, but none of them is designed for installation into vehicles door frame or window. Of course there are other "universal" devices (JP2189227, US4986169) present on the market, which are trying to solve described problem, but none of them enables the all time and weatherproof usage, where the capacity and the functionality of mentioned patens are insufficient for effective usage.
Because disclosed innovative device is designed on basis of vehicle, it enable undisturbed opening and closing the window, where the most important advantage is functionality that device is offering. I am aware, that this type of device has some disadvantages, but I am also convinced, that today production technology enables such type of device even for mass production. The fact is that custom fit designed device has absolutely more advantages as disadvantages.

The picture above and next picture shows the device installed on the Renault Clio. In next few weeks I am going to perform few detailed tests on working prototype of the device for vehicle ventilation in real environment. Only analysis on the basis of those tests will give the exact real effects of device usage.

As mentioned before, design of the device was done on basis of the vehicles model and I have developed procedure of constructing and designing the device for other models and types of vehicles. There is no doubt for expected drastic effect on lowering the temperature with device usage, but if we want to absolutely confirm the positive effects and impact of device usage on reducing the emissions of pollutants, further researches and investigation work should be performed.
Presented innovation offers few variants of business opportunities, where the common point for all of them is word wide competitive advantage. My conclusion is, that because of economies of scale and because of economies of scope this device is universal enough also for mass production.
It is clear that buying/licensing this patent would benefit everyone involved. Invention is SIPO patented and international patents pending, therefore it is up for further negotiation.
