The Importance of Connections
Business is no different. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
Human nature is to want meaningful connections with other humans. In business, this is usually a value for value connection. Occasionally, there balance of value is lesser for one party than the other. In a recent article by Eric Corl, he gives his thoughts on burning bridges.
“You never know what the future holds. Treat people well, maintain relationships, and you’ll have opportunities and collaborations open up that you could have never dreamed of.”
As an entrepreneur, treat every relationship like you may one day need it. The human elements that make someone like you will allow you to fall back on those connections. For instance, if your manufacturing quote is higher than your budget, nurture that relationship so that some day you may be able to come back. Who knows, you may even get a better deal!
