Before you register

Decide what you want to sell. More than 20 product categories are open to all sellers, and at least 10 more are available only to Professional Sellers.

Categories Requiring Approval:
Products in categories requiring approval can be listed only with specific permissions from Amazon. Only sellers with a Professional Selling Plan subscription can sell in these categories. Amazon limits access to sell in these categories to help ensure that sellers meet standards for product and listing quality as well as other category-specific requirements. These standards help Amazon customers have confidence when buying in any category.

Open Categories:
More than 20 categories are open for selling on Amazon; allowing products in these categories to list without specific permission from Amazon. Some categories only allow listings for new products. Some categories have additional guidelines that sellers must follow.

CATEGORIES

Approval is not required to sell these products. Sellers may be required to meet special requirements in order to list some products. Both Individual and Professional Sellers can offer a product on Amazon in these categories, except where noted. Choose a selling plan. With two selling plans, Amazon offers you the flexibility to sell one, or one thousand. The Professional plan gives you the opportunity to sell an unlimited number of products and pay a $39.99 monthly subscription fee. Individuals pay no monthly fees, but instead pay $0.99 per item sold. Both Professionals and Individuals pay other selling fees when an item sells.

When choosing a Selling Plan, consider the products you want to list. Both Individual and Professional Sellers can list products in more than 20 categories. Another 10 categories are available only to Professional Sellers who apply for permission and meet requirements.

Register and start listing. Create your account on Seller Central, the Web interface where you will also manage your selling account.

After you register

List. You can add products to the Amazon Marketplace catalog one at a time, or if you have a Professional selling subscription, you can add large batches of items using bulk tools.

Two ways to list a product on Amazon:
List products already on Amazon.com. Indicate how many products you have to sell, condition of the product(s), and shipping options.
List products not yet on Amazon.com. Identify UPC/EAN and SKU and List products attributes – for example title, description

Sell. Payment for the balance of your orders (net of Amazon Seller fees) is deposited into your bank account, and you receive notification by e-mail that your payment has been sent.

Ship. Amazon notifies you when customers place an order. Use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) and let Amazon do the shipping—or handle shipping yourself.

Get paid. Amazon deposits payment into your bank account at regular intervals and notifies you that your payment has been sent.

In managing your seller account, use the Seller Central website to manage all aspects of selling on Amazon. Seller Central is the website where you manage your selling account, add product information, make inventory updates, manage orders, and manage payments.

Now that you have a seller account, you can start managing the sales of your product on Amazon!
